Since Google has begun structuring its search engine results to reward dynamic original content, businesses that utilize Video in their online marketing are at a massive advantage.
This may come as a surprise, but Wendy Stevens, CEO of a marketing company called Nashville Video, stated in a recent press release that a video which is tagged with high-performing key terms has a “50 times better chance of appearing on the first page of results than any given text page.”
Consequently, companies that offer informational videos as part of their online strategy are starting to appear on the first page of search results. Often, their videos achieve top placement alongside the websites of far bigger companies.
You can test this yourself!
For example, if you Google the term “replace electric heater” you will see lots of companies that can replace an electric heater. But right in the middle of them is a link to a YouTube video from a small outfit called Plumbing Daddy that shows how to replace a heater.
Social media experts are always talking about “engagement”. This is because it’s more than just a marketing buzzword — it’s the critical component to the success of your marketing endeavours today
So it seems that smaller companies who put informational videos on their websites, or on company-specific YouTube channels, are beginning to shoulder their way onto the first page of search results.
If you’re able, consider setting up your company’s YouTube channel. If it does a good job of visually describing who you are and what you do it might go along way to helping your company compete toe-to-toe with bigger companies in the Google results.
You must, however, remember to tag the video with your keywords for maximum effect.
When it comes to doing business online, you need to get to your customers before your competitors do.
